Mean Samrith, 37, and Savuth Luch, both of Danbury, were arrested Tuesday for a variety of drug-related offenses following the execution of search warrants for Samrith’s residence, car, and person, said Danbury Police Department Det. Lt. Mark Williams.
Samrith was the focus of a several weeks investigation related to drug sales throughout the Danbury area. The investigation was initiated after investigators received citizen complaints regarding Samrith’s illegal activity, Williams said.
The bust went down around 7:19 p.m. when investigators from the Special Investigations Division, General Investigations and patrol watched Samrith park his car ion Woodside Avenue and conduct a drug deal with Luch inside the vehicle, Williams said.
Following the deal, investigators stopped both men and found Luch in possession of crack cocaine, which he had purchased from Samrith, Williams said.
Based on a later search of Samrith’s car, person and residence, Samrith was found to be in possession of crack, powder cocaine, and drug paraphernalia, Williams said.
Samrith was charged with two counts possession of a controlled substance, sale of crack cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to sell, sale of a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a protected place, possession within 1,500 of a protected place, possession of drug paraphernalia, three counts of risk of injury to a child and possession of paraphernalia within 1,500 of a protected place. He is being on $50,000 bond.
Luch was charged with possession of a control substance and possession within 1,500 feet of a protected place. He was released on a written promise to appear.
